Advanced Practice Nurse Turned Aesthetic Injector Tara Phelps Shares Her Story

Hey guys and welcome back to the Medical Entrepreneur podcast.

My name is Adam Sewell, and this is where we teach you how to break free from traditional medicine, carve the career of your dreams, and still do what you love.

To be a successful medical entrepreneur, you need to have a strong work ethic because you are not only responsible for your own financial well-being but also for the health and well-being of your patients. The smallest mistakes can have terrible consequences and you always need to be up-to-date because the field is constantly evolving.

To succeed, you need to be dependable, goal-oriented, and committed. Today’s guest on the Medical Entrepreneur podcast is all that and more! Meet advanced practice nurse turned aesthetic injector, Tara Phelps.

A Worker Bee From an Early Age

Tara is an Aesthetic Inner Circle student, advanced practice nurse, and aesthetic injector. Although she didn’t initially start her career in the medical field, she has always had an incredible work ethic.

She grew up in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, a small town surrounded by tobacco fields. Her family was not very wealthy, and for as long as she can remember, her father always had three jobs to take care of the family.

She was taught at an early age that if she wanted something, she had to work for it, so she got her first job when she was 14. She picked corn and tobacco for local farms.

And the most amazing part is that she carried this incredible work ethic into her adult life, which has undoubtedly helped her get to where she is today.

What Sparked Her Interest in Aesthetics

Tara started her career as a Latin teacher. However, she didn’t have any experience with teaching Latin, so she would have to study the night before to prepare a lesson plan for the next day.

And as if that wasn’t overwhelming enough, she didn’t know how to discipline the kids! So she eventually got fired from her first job out of college. But she never saw this as a setback, she saw it as a push onto the right path.

During this time, her father was battling testicular cancer, so she started helping him at home until he one day suggested that she should apply for a job as a nurse or physician’s assistant, which she eventually did. But she didn’t get any of the jobs she applied for, because she didn’t have a medical background. So that’s when she decided to go to nursing school
